"He just sells apartments. If you want to buy or sell a detached home you'd better call someone who knows what they are doing..."

This week I got a call from a lady wanting to downsize because she couldn't keep up with her yard and landscaping anymore. I asked her why she'd called me and this is what she said. "I called you to see if you were really interested in helping Seniors because the realtor I'd called before you said the whole "your Seniors realtor" thing was a marketing ploy to sell apartments".

I sell houses for folks who want to move to townhomes. I sell townhomes for folks who want to move to apartments. I sell apartments for folks who are ready for Assisted Living. And then after I get to know the family I even sell houses to grandchildren who are getting started in the market.

And it's usually good old Grandpa and Grandma who help the young ones get started.

Truly "the Seniors realtor"?

You decide.

 

"Looks like we made it" . . . remember that old song?

Last year at this time the door slammed shut on the real estate market here in the Fraser Valley. There was an unsettling sense of uncertainty in our office and some realtors were gathering up their "For Sale" signs and asking themselves if they should be looking elsewhere. Was it really over this time? Where were the buyers that had been so eager for so many years?

Well, things are somewhat back to normal.  Buyers are looking seriously again and Sellers are checking prices and wondering if this is a good time to put their home on the market. There are conferences around kitchen tables as buyers and sellers, young and old alike, try and decide.

This is what I think . . .
The market has definitely stabilized and the experts suggest that interest rates will stay low for quite some time. So, yes, this is a good time to buy or sell in the Fraser Valley.

Just remember that the big scare last year lowered prices across the board. Not slashed, just lowered them a reasonable amount. Take that into consideration when you are setting prices to sell and negotiating prices on your offers to buy.

Looks like we made it? Yes, I think we have.
